Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ISMpilot (“the app”, “we”) handles information. ISMpilot is the new name of the app previously published as Marine Safety Manager; the app, its data and its operator are the same. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Mykhaylo Osypov, autónomo trading as ISMpilot, NIF ESZ0095260E, Ferrol, Spain. Contact: mail@ismpilot.com.
1. What we process
Vessel and equipment records you create or import: equipment types, serial/ID numbers, positions on the vessel, quantities, inspection, service and expiry dates, certificates, defects, remarks, attached photos and documents, and vessel details such as name, IMO number, flag, call sign and MMSI.
Crew accounts and inspection records. The Master can issue crew accounts consisting of a name and an 8-digit PIN, with a role (Crew, Officer or Master). Each inspection, defect and rectification is signed with the name of the crew member who recorded it and a date and time stamp.
Device identifier. A random device identifier is generated to support device approval by the Master.
We do not require your email address, phone number or location to use the app, and we do not collect them through the app.
2. Local storage
All data is stored on your device, and the app works fully offline. Data stays only on the device unless cloud sync is used.
3. Cloud sync
When sync is used, the register, inspection records, crew accounts and vessel information are sent to and retrieved from Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database), stored under an account tied to your vessel’s IMO number. Attached photos are reduced in size and uploaded when a suitable connection is available. Google processes this data as our infrastructure provider, subject to Google’s terms.
4. Purchases
Vessel licences are sold only through Lemon Squeezy, not through the App Store or Google Play. Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full card details.
5. What we do NOT do
We do not sell your data, show advertising, or share your data with third parties other than the infrastructure and payment providers described above. The app does not run usage analytics or tracking.
6. Retention & deletion
Data remains until you delete it. Equipment items can be removed in the app; signed inspection records are append-only by design so the audit trail cannot be altered. Uninstalling the app clears local data on the device. To request deletion of a vessel’s cloud data, contact us at the address below.
7. Security
Cloud data is access-controlled so each vessel account can read and write only its own data, and roles are enforced on the server. Keep vessel credentials and crew PINs confidential and approve only devices you trust.
8. Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you may request access to, correction or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date, and continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
